Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC)

The Achieving Behavioural Change (ABC) course provides training on the benefits of adopting behavioural change, for all contractors who work on construction and civil engineering projects. This course is designed to provide delegates with an understanding of how attitude, behaviour, communication and worker engagement at all levels can help prevent the chances of accidents occurring. The course can be applied to any construction situation. It features the use of the point of work assessment STAARR (Stop, Think, Assess, Act, Report and Review) and the TASK (Think first, Act safe, Stop if hazardous, and Keep safe) card. This is a simple dynamic risk assessment system used where contractors or suppliers through the life of a programme have not adopted their own system.

Health and Safety Awareness (HSA)

This one day course can be for those who have entered, or are about to enter, the construction and civil engineering industry. The course gives delegates an awareness of health and safety and how it affects their daily role. It can be used as preparation training for the CITB Health, safety and environment test or as refresher training. This course is the first step towards a CSCS Labourers Card (Green Card) and to the progressive CITB Site Safety Plus suite of courses that range from training for operatives into the industry up to senior manager / director.

Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)

This one day classroom based course will provide delegates with an introduction to environmental issues on construction sites. It is designed to meet the basic environmental knowledge that the sub-contract chain are required to prove to major contractors.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)

This course is designed for site managers, agents and persons who are, or are about to be, responsible for planning, organising, monitoring, controlling and administering groups of staff and workforce.  The course covers all relevant legislation and other aspects which affect safe working in the building, construction and civil engineering industries. It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce.

Site Management Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SMSTS REF)

The SMSTS Refresher course is for delegates who have previously passed the full SMSTS course or subsequent refresher course and can provide proof of attendance. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics many building on the previous five-day course programme as well as introducing new subjects.

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)

This two-day course is intended for those who have, or are about to acquire, supervisory responsibilities. It provides supervisors with an understanding of health, safety, welfare and environmental issues, as well as their legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will highlight the requirement to promote health and safety to supervise effectively.

Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme Refresher (SSSTS REF)

The SSSTS Refresher course is for delegates who have previously passed the two day Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course and can provide proof of successful attendance. It aims to bring health and safety knowledge up to date, as well as giving a thorough overview of the legislative changes and their impact in the workplace. The course includes a wide range of topics which have been affected by the changes to procedures built upon the material in the original course.

  • Recent developments in construction, legislation, health and safety, welfare and environmental issues
